Home Buying Tip: Review Your Credit Report

Purpose of this home buying tip: To educate you on the need for (and importance of) a credit review.

Before starting the home buying process, you should have a good idea where you stand with your credit. Great credit? Bad credit? Somewhere in between? You need to know this information.

Why? Because mortgage lenders will put your credit under the microscope. You can bet on that! So it pays to have a look at your credit first, for the sake of identifying and correcting any errors.

There are three credit agencies -- Experian, Equifax and TransUnion -- and you should get a copy of your report from each one. You can order a copy of your credit report from the website of each agency. Their websites are just their names plus "www" before and ".com" after.

If you find any errors on your credit report, dispute it through that particular agencies website. Want to learn more about your credit as it relates to the home buying process? Visit the link below!
